Near Kristinehamn, Sweden in the province of Värmland, this scene shows a typical red house with white trim, flying the Swedish flag.




Stockholm’s “Old Town” (Gamla Stan) is filled with interesting old buildings, cobble-stoned narrow alleys, restaurants, shops. The red and yellow buildings are two of the oldest and date from the 15th century.

Norway



Bryggen section of Bergen, Norway. Bryggen (the dock) is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the Vågen harbor in Bergen, Norway. Around 1350, bryggen became the centre of the Hanseatic commercial activities in Norway. Today, museums, shops, and restaurants occupy the buildings.




Hopperstad Stave Church, Vik Municipality, Norway. Dating from around 1130, this stave church is one of the oldest in Norway. About 700 years after its construction, it was abandoned and fell into disrepair. A preservation society bought the building in 1880 and reconstructed it, finishing in 1891. The municipality sits along the spectacular Sogne Fjord.




Norsk Folkemuseum (Norwegian Folk Museum), Oslo, Norway is an Open Air Museum that contains old buildings from all over Norway. It is a great way to see Norway in one place! The Exhibition Building contains various facets of folk life in Norway, including folk art, church art, Sami culture, folk dress, other crafts, weaponry, and more.




Flåm River Valley. A trip on the Flåm Railway, which runs from Flåm to Myrdal, is a wonderful way to see the spectacular scenery of Norway. This is just one of the beautiful villages along the way.

Frogner Park in Oslo, Norway is the world's largest sculpture park of a single artist. The park, designed by Gustav Vigeland (1869 – 1943), features his life's work with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite, and wrought iron.
